The presenter is Katherine Stephan the Research Engagement Librarian at Liverpool John Moores University. Katherine is also the library community representative on the Think. Check. Submit. committee.
Katherine draws on her experience to explain how she uses the principles of Think. Check. Submit to identify trusted publishers when helping researchers. She reminds us that there is no single list to check, and so the due diligence process can help researchers avoid pitfalls.
Three common scenarios
Katherine talks us through three of the most frequent problems researchers present:
- I have never heard of this journal.
- How do I know if a publisher is predatory or problematic?
- Does this journal have a cost?
Katherine’s advice also covers what to do if a researcher realises that they have submitted an article to a predatory journal.
